George Higashiyama first knew he wanted to study and perform Jazz when he heard Miles Davis’s and Cannonball Adderley’s rendition of Autumn Leaves. George is continually pursuing the art of Jazz, attending local festivals, master classes, and even performing at the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival. Some of George’s biggest piano inspirations include Dave Brubeck and Oscar Peterson. Mel Tormé and Tony Bennett are George’s biggest inspirations vocally. George’s favorite performances include singing at the Olympic Jazz Festival, playing piano with the Evergreen Philharmonic, and scatting at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho. George has fallen in love with Jazz and continues to fall even more every day.
